So here we have Viper, a cold blooded (literally) killer.
She's a 19 year old albino corn snake I got when she was just a few weeks old and the size of a pencil.
over the past few years I've fed her thawed once frozen mice as I understand she's getting to be a bit elderly. I noticed recently she's been on the hunt for food as she recently shed her skin but I was out. Headed to the store and they were out as well. So I grabbed a pair of frozen rat pinkies - about the size of a cocktail frank. I drop them in, she locates.. eats them sideways. Not head to tail, not tail to head... Nope, grabbed it by the back and ate it sideways. They were smaller than I thought so I went to a different shop today. All out of frozen. So I got her a live mouse instead. Old girl should still have some spunk in her, right?
Dropped Stuart in the tank (I don't prefreeze or stun like they do with rats. IF FEEDING YOUR SNAKE A RAT YOU MUST STUN IT AND WATCH UNTIL IT IS SWALLED BECAUSE IF NOT IT CAN KILL YOUR SNAKE) anyways.. she comes out of her house, tongue flicking, heads the opposite direction. Oh dear. He runs by her, she follows, strikes, misses. He runs. She has a hollow log she slithers into and waits... Stuart makes his way back around and things get dark. She strikes, misses his body but grabs his face - like his nose is in her throat. She tries to coil but is in the corner of the tank. So she throws him back and forth - by his face. She finally coils. He goes to sleep. Damn Viper... you're hardcore. RIP Stuart.
Just thought I would share.
this is her "you wanna buy some drugs?" face

I still don't get the snakes as pets thing, but to each their own.

The art teacher at my middle school had an albino rat that was spit up by a snake. The rat's name was freaky and he lived 9 years

They're more entertaining than a lot of reptilian/amphibian pets. I had a pair of dumpy tree frogs for a while but realize they don't do a whole lot that look... dumpy.
Snakes you can actually hold, let them crawl around, etc.

Poor Stuart. I have a fascination for snakes but I'm absolutely terrified of them. Thanks to my big brother who, when we were kids, used to chase me with one saying he was going to put it down my neck.

Thats bizarre. My sister adopted a feeder mouse Viper wouldn't eat. His name was Mike the MxPx Mouse and had giant balls. Lived for 3+ years.
Fun fact: the only difference between a feeder mouse and pet mouse is the price.

I never minded them to hold. Hell a friend back home used to ride around on his Harley with some big ass constrictor he had wrapped around him and that thing seemed pretty cool. Was an effective ticket deterrent for the police...uh, have a nice day dude
Spiders though, that is the one thing I just am not okay with

Ya it was bizarre, the art teacher ended up giving freaky to a friend of mine, she had it for its last 7 years. They now have a pet squirrel.

I spent some time wondering how she is both a corn snake and a viper, then finally realized Viper was just her name. You're tricky.

We used to have some pet turtles (they went to a great home that we found for them when it was time, we did NOT release them into the wild to die) one of them was awesome, the other was lame.
Henry was cool, he'd go nuts in his tank whenever you got home (like I dog running around wagging his tail) chased feeder fish like a maniac. Cool little guy.
Oscar was named Oscar because he was a grouch - couldn't care less if you were there or not, wouldn't chase fish, only crickets (easier to catch). Oscar was lame.

Corn snakes aren't dangerous, the Viper comparison is pretty ridiculous.

Yeah but her name is Viper. I gave it to her when I was 9
